*Most common queries during admission days in Delhi University*

FaqThe counselors, in different colleges, are facing bizarre questions baffling them. But, one has to give proper answers to the freshers or their parents. Enquiries mostly relating to the proper colleges, courses, future career, hostels and any other accommodation sites. A few of frequent asking questions(FAQs) and its possible perfect answers are given here for the students and for the student- volunteers as well.

Admission form

Q. Where the admission forms are available?
A. A student can buy the admission form from any of the designated colleges in north, south, east, zone, as listed on the University website: www.du.ac.in. It comes along with a prospectus at Rs.30/-only and can be submitted at any of the colleges. Students applying for a hostel seat or under sports /ECA category will have to collect form from the respective college( for hostels please see CII-Hostel link)

Q. Is there a special price for SC/ST-students?
A. No, it's free for sc/st students.

Q. Where are the entrance test forms available?
A. This has to be picked up from the college which is offering such a test.

Q. What if one makes a mistake while filing the computer-read bubble form?
A. Use the practice form available online at DU's website:www.du.ac.in,before filling the final form.

Entrance Tests

Q. Do we have entrance test for admission to English(H)course?
A. No.The cut-off marks and class XII-scores are the only factors determining eligibility.

Q. Does BBE (Bachelor of business economics) have an entrance test ?
A. Yes, it has.

QUOTA

Q. What are the relaxation for OBC-students?
A. There will be a separate cut-off list for the OBC category. This is different from general category, however, will not be more than 10%.Even if OBC-seats go unfilled, there will be no relaxation of OBC-admission criteria.

Q. How does one avail of sports quota?
A. This depends on the college concerned. While the candidate should have won awards to qualify, colleges differ in importance given to cricket, foot ball and basket ball or other sport depending upon their need.

CUT-OFF

Q. What will be cut-off percentage for arts/science/commerce this time?
A. Cut-offs are decided by individual colleges. One indicator is the previous year's cut-off percentages. This information is available in the prospectus of the concerned college.

GENERAL

Q. What are the most popular vocational courses?
A. The most popular are BBE(Bachelor of Business Economics), BMMMC(Bachelor of Mass Media and Mass Communication) and Journalism.

Q. How long will the admission process last?
A. Three Days. As per every cut off list is published.

Q. Can one pursue a correspondence course with a regular one?
A. At D.U. one can persue only one degree at a time.
