All D.U Colleges supposed to admit admission seeking students under sports and ECA (extra curricular activities)Quota.The Colleges set aside 5% seats for sports
Persons and artists of several categories. Here are few tips for the aspirants:
Key dates for submitting quota -forms.
* June 15,2009 is the last date for submitting of Sports & ECA forms this year.
*Notices from different Colleges indicating Schedules:
1.Lady Shriram College/Lajpat Nagar:
June 16th list of shortlisted candidates.
June 17,18,19 Sports trials,
June 30:list of short listed candidates for ECA audition/tests, July 2,3&4 ECA audition/tests.
2.Kamala Nehru College :Sports Trials June 17 & ECA auditions/tests On July 7.
3.St.Stephen's College:June 16 to 22 Sports Trials,
4.Gargi College :Sports trials June 16,ECAauditions :July 3 & 4,
5.Kirorimal College(KMC):Sports trials :June 18 &ECA auditions :
June 27 to July 7
6.Ramjas College : ECA trials:June 25&26
*Tips:Who can apply for such quotas:
Candidates applying under sports quota are required to have taken part in at least zonal-level competitions and won certificates and medals.But,some colleges prefer National-lebel players.Under ECA,it is candidates' talents that count
*How to apply: Admission seeking aspirants under sports/ECA quota need not have to fill the OMR form.He/She has to fill the sports/ECA application
form at individual colleges where he/she wants to apply for.
*What Colleges do after such activities?
Colleges put out the names of short listed candidates 7 dates sports trials or ECA auditions on their notice boards.A separate list is issued by colleges announcing the names of those who have qualified themselves for admission under sports or ECA quota.
*Candidates must carry documents while applying under sports and ECA quota:
A.For Sports quota:
- Character certificate from the institution last attended.
- Certificate of the qualifying exam.passed.
- Mark sheet on the basis of which admission is sought.
- relevant documents such as SC/ST certificate.
- A Certificate of physical fitness signed by registered medical practitioner.
- Details of any scholarships the applicant has Date of birth certificate or secondary school or equivalent examination certificate stating birth date.
- Documents in support of achievements in the sports on the basis of which admission is sought. Copies of all such documents and the photograph of sports person should be duly attested by the Principal of the institution last attended.
- Other relevant documents such as SC/ST certificate
- Details of any scholarships the applicant has availed of in past three years.
B.For ECA quota :
- A letter of recommendation from the Principal/officiating authority of the School last attended,giving details of activities participated in.
- Documents in support of achievements in extra curricular activities.
- Statement of purpose written by the student,stating how he/she will contribute to enrich the college culturally.
- Portfolios are necessary for those applying under the category of Fine arts/painting/sculpture/photography.
- A list of extracurricular activities mentioning lebel of participation and prizes won in last three years.
- Character certificate from the institution last attended.
- Mark sheet and date of birth certificate or school examination certificate stating date of birth .
- Along with original documents,Xerox copies of all the documents are also required,so carry atleast 4-5 copies of the documents and several copies of your passport sized photograph(attested).
E.C.A IS THE SILK ROUTE TO REACH TOP COLLEGES
 Thousands of fresh-aspirants who want to get admission in Delhi University Colleges but for under cut-off can not get chances, there Silk rout for them. Even if he/she is not SC/ST/OBC or do not belong to any other category, they have ways that is their inner qualities, like, music, dramatics, paintings, debates, creative writing, sports, Fashion etc.
Many Colleges have issued special forms for them.They are to go through, obcourse, certain round of interviews and possess some good certificates to prove his/hers abilities to get admission in any star colleges.
 1.DANCE /MUSIC:
Especially colleges like Hansraj, Hindu and Sri Venkateswara, Kirori Mal, Ramjas and Gargi Colleges and few other colleges accepts forms for such intelligent students. Many famous star-artists of today came out from such colleges.
2.Fashion:
very few colleges have such exotic subject through which they take brilliant student to enhance the standard of the colleges.Thy are like Miranda,I.P.College,Lady shriram college and few other Women colleges.
3.DRAMA:
Following Colleges are interested to allow few students for There Drama Societies:The Colleges are Dayal Sing College(Day& Evening), Kirori Mal College, Sriram College of commerce, Maharaja Agrasen college, Kamala Nehru College, Gargi College and others.
4.Debating :
Kirori Mal College, St.Stephene's, Lady Shriram College, Shri RamCollege of commerce, Ramjas College, Hansraj and Hindu etc.
5.Creative writing :
St.Stephen's,Kamala Nehru,Gargi and other colleges,Indraprastha College(w), Lady Shriram College(W), Daulat Ram College,Miranda House etc..
 6.Painting(Fine Arts):
Kirorimal College, Lady Shriram college, Miranda College, I.P.College, St.Strpen's college and many others.
7. SPORTS:
Kirorimal College, St.Stephen's College, Ramjas College, Hansraj College, Hindu, SRCC, Shri Goru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Indraprastha College, Shri Venkateswara College. Hansraj etc.
- Among the ECA quota, the most sought after cultural societies are drama -dance-music as they are very active in most colleges. Cricket, table tennis, badminton, basket ball, athletics, volleyball, foot ball, swimming and tennis are included in the sports quota.It may be mentioned Deshbandhu Evening college has been very famous for weight lifting and Gymnastics.
- When it come to extra curricular activities, the not-so-popular
Colleges in D.U.beat their popular counter colleges.
Infact, DU has done remarkable attempt by sanctioning such
Quotas for reviving many faceted qualities of the students .
- So,students who have applied for ECA quota should keep
themselves alert to be well informed about the trial dates.
