Every year lakh and lakhs of students flock in to Delhi from all over the world, especially from every part of India, to study in Delhi, because Delhi University (D.U) has its own charm which sets it apart from all other Universities in India. Delhi University has got it all, right from its glorious and prestigious heritage, to its glamorous metro mania, advanced study system, multi-various study-courses, tremendous job possibilities and for many other attractive factors, which has made Delhi and Delhi University a paradise for the migratory students flock.

In Delhi, besides Delhi University and its several colleges ,there are other prestigious institutions i.e. JNU, Jamia Milia, Jamia Hamdard,Indraprastha University,Rai University etc. Including DelhiUniversity other Universities have their hostel facilities. But, the number of hostels are not enough to accommodate a large number of out station-students; both girls and boys. About 75% out station girls and boys run pillar to post for a comfortable accommodations after crossing over their first hurdle-admission. University Grants Commission has been providing grants to build up new hostels, especially for girls, but most of the Principals are in difficulties for more funds and more space for building up hostels. Yet, some of the Delhi University Colleges have started constructing Hostels for the girls students in particular. Authorities of Delhi University and Universities scattered across the mega polish,have increased the number of seats including SC/ST quota seats but they don’t think where these large number of students would accommodate themselves. The unfortunate students,especially girls students, cry for a ‘home, away from their sweet home’.So, they start searching for a PG(paying guest) or private hostels or renting flat accommodation.There are people, who live around educational institutions or campuses realize the need and importance of outstation students accommodation problems and therefore they construct flats, made extensions to their houses,near colleges and universities or open up a new business offering the students as paying guests.

Delhi Universty has 2 campuses,one is main campus-popularly known as North Campus another is South Campus.There are a number of colleges around these two campuses.Colleges like St.Stephen’s,Miranda House(w),I.P.College(w ),Hindu College,Hansraj College,Khalsa College,Ramjas College,Daulat Ram College, Kirorimal College,Sriram College of Commerce are situated around North campus including School of Economics nd department of Languages and other various Departments.Of These colleges,some colleges have hostel facilities but most of them lacking sufficient space to accommodate a large number of out-station students, both girls and boys. Naturally, newly admitted students(freshers) become worried to get a proper accommodation somewhere nearby their respective colleges. In Delhi,security for the girls is a burning question.So,accommodation with proper security is a matter of concern.Private Hostels and Paying guest (PG) accommodationsleft only option for these students who can not manage to get College hostel seats.Since the scarcity of shelters for the students a regular phenomena,the business-minded people build up dormitories ,hostels and PG accommodations.The rents have remained more or less stable. Basic facilities like Bedding,study-table,almirahs,cupboard,meals,water and electricity come as a pocket friendly cost of Rs.4,000-6,000.But,if one is ready to shell out more,high end facilities like Wi-fi connectivity,air condition/cooler/geyser,power back up,laundry service/transport are also available.

Rules & Regulations for PG Students.
Clock in timings range between 8.30 – 11p.m.Some landlords are extra cautious and do not allow girls to stay out side after 8.0’Clock.
ID proof required from college authority followed by tenant verification from police.
Visitors(specially male visitors not allowed inside the room) are mostly restricted.Parents are to give their proper ID proof.
